Privacy policy
What we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do.
Horton-Labs LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates electronics-architect.com. We respect your privacy and are deeply committed to protecting your personal information and proprietary engineering designs.
Core Commitment: No Selling or Sharing of User Data
We do not and will never sell, rent, or share your personal information or your design data with third parties. Your email address, account details, and the schematics/architectures you create in our cloud saves are kept strictly confidential and are used solely to provide and improve the Electronics Architect platform.
Information We Collect
Account Information: When you register for an account (Free or PRO), we collect basic information such as your email address to authenticate your logins and manage your subscription.
Design Data: If you utilize our cloud save feature, we securely store your schematics, component choices, and simulation parameters so you can access them across devices.
Usage Data: We collect basic, anonymized telemetry on how the tool is used to help us squash bugs and improve features.
Cookies and Browser Storage
Electronics Architect sets no cookies of its own. What it keeps in your browser's local storage: your sign-in token and cached account details while you are logged in, your editor preferences, unsaved drafts and custom parts, an AI provider key if you choose to enter one, and your answer to the analytics banner. Local storage is read only by this site and is sent to our servers only when the app makes a request on your behalf. No advertising cookies or third-party trackers are deployed.
Analytics: With your permission we use PostHog to understand how the site is used. It starts only after you click Accept on the banner and keeps an identifier in local storage so that repeat visits can be linked. If you are signed in, your email address, name and plan are attached to that identifier so we can tell trial usage from paid usage. Clicking Reject keeps analytics switched off, and nothing runs until you have chosen. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal we record a No without asking, and Do Not Track is honoured as well. Your answer is remembered for six months.
Google Sign-In: If you sign in with Google, Google's sign-in library may set a small cookie on this site to remember that you dismissed its prompt. That cookie is controlled by Google and governed by Google's privacy policy.
Managing browser storage: You can clear this site's data at any time from your browser's settings. Doing so signs you out and shows the analytics banner again on your next visit.
Analytics Preferences: To change your answer at any time, reopen the banner here: Manage Analytics Preferences
Third-Party Analytics & Monitoring: To maintain the reliability and improve the experience of the Electronics Architect platform, we employ third-party tools that may set identifiers or access localStorage:
- PostHog (Analytics): Helps us understand how users interact with our features (e.g., placing components, running simulations). PostHog is loaded dynamically and is fully gated behind user cookie consent. If you click "Reject" or have Global Privacy Control (GPC) enabled, PostHog is completely disabled.
- Sentry (Error Tracking): Monitors client-side exceptions and application health in real-time. It is essential to help us diagnose and patch bugs quickly. No personally identifiable information (PII) is processed by Sentry.
- Stripe (Payment Processing): Handles secure checkout, subscriptions, and billing lifecycle management. Stripe sets necessary fraud prevention and security cookies which are exempt from prior consent rules.
Third-Party Integrations and Distributor Links
Our Smart Part Search integrates with third-party component distributors, such as DigiKey, to pull live datasheets, pricing, and stock availability to assist with your designs.
Outbound Links: When you click a purchase link in our Find Parts results, you will be directed to the distributor's website. Once you are on the distributor's website, your activity is governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not receive any personally identifiable information from these distributors about your purchases.
Usage Analytics: We log anonymized, aggregate data about which components and distributors are most popular among our users. This helps us improve search relevance and prioritize API integrations. This data is never linked to your personal identity or account information.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your schematics and personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If we make significant changes, we may notify you via the email address associated with your account or by placing a prominent notice on our website.
